Protection & Peace of Mind During Your Move

Safemove is the best protection package offered by anyone in the self-moving industry, and it's available at the lowest total cost. With Safemove, you receive:
Damage Waiver Protection - which frees you of responsibility for accidental collision damage to the rental equipment. Without this coverage, you may be responsible for any and all damage, up to the full value of the equipment.
Cargo Protection - which covers damage to your cargo resulting from collision, fire, upset and overturn of the rental truck/trailer with the following limits:
Medical/Life Protection - which provides you with medical and life coverage, as a result of an accident, 24 hours a day during the term of your rental. Your passengers' coverage applies only while they are riding in the truck or towing vehicle.

Frequently Asked Questions about Safemove®

Am I responsible if I damage U-Haul® rental equipment?

Yes, you are responsible for all damage to the rental vehicle up to the full replacement value. But when you select Safemove protection, you are relieved of this responsibility.

Does my personal auto-insurance policy cover damage to vehicles I rent?

Probably not. Many auto policies cover damage to rental cars, but most do not cover rental trucks. And even if they do, you have deductibles and increased premiums to consider.

Do my credit cards cover damage to rental vehicles?

No. None of them cover rental trucks or trailers.

Exclusions: Safemove does not cover theft or burglary of cargo nor does it cover damage resulting from improper packing/loading or shifting of cargo. Safemove also does not cover the following types of cargo: currency, furs, antiques, securities, money, notes, jewelry, animals, motor vehicles and contraband. See your U-Haul rental agreement/documents holder for other exclusions.

Safemove®, Safestor®, and Safetow® are not liability insurance and each is optional. Some portions of these protection packages are underwritten in the USA by Republic Western Insurance Company, Phoenix, AZ. In Canada, some portions are underwritten by Old Republic Insurance Company, Hamilton, Ontario. In Texas, some portions of Safemove® and Safetow® protection packages are not available and Safestor® protection is only available directly from Republic Western Insurance Company, Phoenix, AZ. In Hawaii, some portions are underwritten by National Union Fire Insurance Company. New York, NY Customers owning real or personal property may have policies that provide similar coverage elements.
