Making
a Reservation
How do I make a
reservation?
Reserve the moving van in advance. With a
deposit, you can reserve the equipment for the hours you need.
You can reserve your moving van and other
equipment by calling 1-215-736-1944. Schedule it for the hours
you will be doing your loading, driving and unloading. On the
busiest days, U-Haul® schedules so that more than one family
can use the van during the day.
With a deposit, you can reserve the equipment
for the hours you need. If your equipment is not returned in
time by another family, we'll either find you another piece of
equipment, help you schedule your move during different hours or
let you know where you can pick it up nearby.
We'll take your deposit almost any way. We can
take your credit card over the telephone at 1-215-736-1944. Or
just stop by, look at the equipment and pay in cash. Or just
mail us your check. We can then confirm your equipment
reservation.
Are there certain
days when U-Haul® can schedule me to have the
equipment all day?
Renting Sunday through Thursday generally gives
you a better chance for a longer rental. Fridays and Saturdays,
especially at the end of the month, are the busiest moving
times.
Will I receive a
reduced rate if I return my U-Haul equipment early?
Unfortunately, there is no discount for early drop-off.

Picking
Up Equipment
Is there anything else I
should check before I leave the rental store?
Often times, families get home with the moving
van and realize they need rope, tape, boxes, pads or dollies to
help them with their move. We have all of these items available
for purchase.
Also, before you leave the lot, compare the fuel
tank gauge and mileage to what is printed on the contract. Make
sure they agree.
What happens if I get in
an accident? Does my car insurance or credit card cover me?
Please ask about our Safemove®
protection. Most auto insurance policies won't cover moving
vans. No credit-card coverage's apply to trucks or trailers. For
$14 a day*, you're virtually covered. But you must report any
accident or your coverage may be void.
*Safemove® rates may be different in Canada.

Returning
Equipment
Do I really need to return
the moving van on time?
It's crucial that you arrive and return on time.
Other families are counting on using that moving van for their
move and your cooperation in scheduling allows U-Haul to keep
your cost low.
If you're late returning your van, there will be
an additional charge. And please call us - another family is
counting on you to return on time.
Do I need to return
the van where I rented it?
Yes. U-Haul® has scheduled your departure and
return. Other families will be scheduled to use that moving van
when you bring it back.
What if I must
return the equipment after business hours?
Park the van legally. Lock all rental tools
inside the van box and drop off the ignition key, the lock key
and a copy of the contract in the designated drop-off spot.
Contact the location the next day to collect your deposit.
Refueling costs and any damage will be taken out of your
deposit.

Rental
Conditions
How old do I have to be to
rent a U-Haul moving van?
You only need to be 18 years old with a valid
driver's license to rent a moving van from U-Haul.
Are the rates in Canada
the same as the U.S. for an In-Town rental?
U-Haul rents moving vans for the same low rates
of $19.95, $29.95, and $39.95 (plus mileage), as in the U.S. The
mileage in Canada is, of course, based on kilometers and not
miles. More rate information is available at 1-215-736-1944.
My friend is going
to drive my U-Haul for me. Will I be responsible if he gets into
an accident?
The person who signs the U-Haul contract is
fully responsible for the U-Haul equipment. Be sure to ask about
our Safemove®
and Safetow®
protection packages for protection and peace of mind.

Ryder TRS indicated that
their 24-foot truck is larger in cubic feet than U-Haul's 26-foot
truck. Is that true?
That is true if you want to move water. Ryder
TRS measures cubic feet using a water volume measurement.
U-Haul's 26-foot truck has more usable cubic feet and storage
capacity than Ryder TRS's 24-foot truck.
